The head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said she believes it is necessary to lower international trade barriers to fight inflation.

“We can start now by lowering trade barriers to overcome shortages and lower prices for food and other goods,” Georgieva said. “Not only countries, but businesses also need to diversify imports in order to secure supply chains and preserve the enormous benefits of global business integration.”

She noted that it was necessary to restore the confidence of the international public in a “rules-based world order”.

Georgieva emphasized: “Only uncertainty about trade policy led to a decline in global GDP in 2019 by about 1%.”

Earlier, the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said that it was too early to abandon globalization.
