The “Window to Europe” Film Festival kicks off in Viborg

Film Festival ” Window to Europe” has begun in Vyborg, which will run until August 11.

The symbol of the film festival in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Andrei Tarkovsky was his film Andrei Rublev. The theme of this year’s festival, “Future Predictions,” reflects critics’ bias towards early films: eight competitive films shot by emerging directors, six of them by directors.

The festival’s competition program consists of three sections: fiction, documentaries and animation. In total, 11 films will compete for the main awards.

The jury included Alexei Fedorchenko, Elena Glickman, Ingrid Olerinskaya, Susanya Alperin and Yuri Lyubchin.

The show will conclude with the debut of director Svetlana Ustinova “Winter Season” with Yulia Snigir in the title role, which tells about the painful relationship between her daughter and her mother.
