Oscar-Winning ‘Elephant Whisperers’ Writer Sets Teen Drama Series

The next project from Garima Pura Patiyaalvi, who co-wrote the Oscar-winning “The Elephant Whisperers,” is a teen drama Amazon series.

“Amber Girls School” is set in an all-girls institution that focuses on conditioning young women in traditional Indian culture. It follows the story of Ojaswini, a 15-year-old who is amongst the most promising students of her grade. In pursuit of her dream to be the vice head girl of her school, she maintains discipline and focus until teenage rebellion and desires come to the fore and the school’s strict rules clash with her craving for individuality and freedom.

The series will stream on Amazon’s free-of charge, ad-supported streaming platform that is only available in India, miniTV, which is currently on an expansion spree. It is directed by Rajlaxmi Ratan Seth (“The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family”) and produced by Reliance Entertainment Studios. The cast includes Celesti Bairagey (“Udti Ka Naam Rajjo”), who plays Ojaswini, Kajol Chugh (“Girls Will Be Girls”), Adrija Sinha (“The Railway Men”), Ishika Gagneja (“Physics Wallah”), Harsh Khurana (“Crimes Aaj Kal”) and Shruti Panwar (“Indian Police Force”).

Amogh Dusad, head of content, Amazon miniTV, said: “‘Amber Girls School’ beautifully captures the essence of teenage, portraying the complexities of identity, rebellion, and friendship in a compelling narrative.”

Sweta Agnihotri, producer, Reliance Entertainment, added: “It’s a story that reflects the universal struggles of adolescence, and with the talented cast and crew, we are confident that the series will leave a lasting impact.”
