'Clean it up': Dragons star escapes ban for hair pull

UPDATED: Blake Lawrie will escape suspension after being placed on report for a hair pull on Josh Aloiai in the Dragons shock win over Manly.

The incident went relatively unnoticed with referee Ashley Klein putting the prop on report in the 10th minute.

Lawrie has been hit with a grade one contrary conduct charge, which will see him cop a $1800 fine with an early guilty plea and $2500 should he fight it and lose.

“I would think in that instance it would be fine, but those sort of things you don’t want to see in our game … clean it up,” Mal Meninga said on Fox League.

In pre-season, Titans forward Klese Haas was fined $1000 for a similar incident.

Hannah Southwell was also warned for a hair pull on Georgia Hale in the NRLW grand final while Tyson Frizell wasn’t charged last year for a controversial incident with Jarome Luai.

Lawrie’s act came as the Dragons scored a brilliant 20-12 win at home.

The Sea Eagles were first to go over when Tolutau Koula scored off a brilliant Tom Trbojevic offload.
