Yemen: Restoring state institutions is the goal of peace efforts

The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, confirmed that restoring state institutions is a top priority for the Council and the Yemeni government, and the ultimate goal of any efforts for sustainable peace, which must mean broad partnership without discrimination or exclusion, and establishing a brighter future for all Yemenis.

 

This came during his meeting, today, Thursday, with the Regional Director of the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, Romain Victor Grandjean, and the Center’s accompanying delegation, which is visiting the temporary capital, Aden, according to the Yemeni News Agency (Sabanet).  

The head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council said that a just peace based on nationally, regionally and internationally agreed upon references, especially Resolution 2216, was and will remain a primary interest for the Yemeni people on the path to restoring state institutions that guarantee rights and freedoms, justice and equal citizenship. Which will make Yemen more secure, stable, and more present in its regional and international surroundings.

 

Al-Alimi, from the delegation of the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, listened to a briefing on the Center’s activity and its commendable interventions around the world in helping to contain the threat. Armed conflicts and their devastating repercussions at the national, regional and international levels.

The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council put the delegation of the Humanitarian Dialogue Center in front of the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, including the mediation efforts led by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in order to revive the path Peace and launching a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

 

Alimi pointed to the complexities facing these efforts on the part of the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime at a time when the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people is doubling. Because of its terrorist attacks on oil installations, shipping ships and international shipping lines.
