An internal camp for the handball team in preparation for the Gulf Games
Dubai, April 7 / WAM / The UAE junior handball team continues its daily training in the Shabab Al Ahli Club hall in Al Nahda, in preparation for participating in the first Gulf Youth Games.
Khamis Al Suwaidi, director of the handball teams, confirmed that the team has begun the second phase of preparation, and the names that will participate in the tournament have been decided.
He said: “We will participate in the junior national team even though the tournament is for the youth stage in preparation for the 10th Asian Junior Handball Championship (U-18 World Championship qualifiers), which qualifies for the 2025 World Championship, which Iran will host from August 25 to September 3 next.”
He added that the team played a friendly match with Al Bataeh, and there will be another friendly match with the Sharjah Youth team, after which the players will rest for two days during the Eid holiday in preparation for the third and final stage of preparation before the start of the tournament’s competitions.
Al-Suwaidi thanked the Board of Directors of the Handball Federation, headed by Nabil Ashour, for providing all types of support to the team, and the Board of Directors of Shabab Al-Ahly Club for hosting the team’s training, noting the establishment of an internal camp for 3 days, and the performance of a friendly match before the official competitions.
The team’s roster participating in the tournament includes 20 players: Rashid Al-Qarqs, Muhammad Al-Mazmi, Masoud Al-Yasi, Mana Al-Ketbi, Saeed Al Ali, Muhammad Al-Awd, Abdullah Al-Obaidli, Ibrahim Al-Ashar, Mansour Al-Qarqs from Sharjah, Abdullah Al-Falasi, Nawaf Khaled, Omar Shah, and Musa Al-Aswad. Abdullah Al-Badawi from Shabab Al-Ahly, Jassim Al-Noubi, Hamdan Al-Hassai, and Ahmed Linjawi from Al-Wasl, and Al-Hassan Al-Shaddadi, Al-Hussein Al-Shaddadi, and Abu Bakr Al-Jabri from Al-Jazeera.
