Under-fire coach walks out on presser after 30 seconds

Jason Demetriou has cut short a bizarre press conference as he prepares for what could be his last match in charge of the Rabbitohs.

The coach took only four questions, lasting around 30 seconds before he walked off.

Reports have suggested Demetriou has 80 minutes to save his skin, however his press conference could hint there are further problems bubbling away.

Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga confirmed there’d been interest from South Sydney in him taking over in an interim capacity with speculation also ramping up that Wayne Bennett could return next year.

Demetriou was questioned by 9News reporter Zac Bailey at an all-in press conference on Friday morning but didn’t delve into questions about how he’s personally handling the pressure.

Question: I’m sure you’ve had easier weeks in your life. Firstly, how are you travelling with all the external talk?

Demetriou: We’ve had a great week of training, energy through the week’s been outstanding.
