"Trends" He participates with a research paper at the World Sustainability Summit

Abu Dhabi, April 26 / WAM / The Trends Research and Consultation Center is participating in the World Sustainability Summit 2024, which began yesterday and will last for two days, and is organized by the SEE Institute for Sustainability at its headquarters in the Sustainable City – Dubai.

The participation was represented by Moza Al Marzouqi, Head of the Economic Studies Department at Trends, presenting the results of a research paper entitled “Technology, Promoting the Circular Economy, and Global Sustainable Growth…Lessons Learned for Developing Countries,” within a main session of the summit that centered on “Circular Economy Innovations.”

Moza Al Marzouqi said that although the circular economy refers to the ability of the economy to grow through the rational and effective use of resources, the transition to the circular model requires the use of modern technology, adding that her research paper addresses the role of this technology in promoting the circular economy using a sample of experiments. Global, in an attempt to determine how technology can enhance the performance of the circular economy with its various components.

She stated that the research paper relied on the methodology of extrapolating and analyzing successful international experiences in transitioning to a circular economy, and concluded several key roles for technology that support sustainability and economic growth, including finding a balanced approach in government regulations to support the circular economy, and developing corporate policy to achieve a balance between profitability goals and their impact on Human capital and environmental goals for sustainable development.

She pointed out that the research suggests taking measures on several fronts to accelerate the transition to circular economic models in developing countries, to support their ability to confront crises and achieve sustainable development goals, which will help them benefit from the positive aspects of technology and reduce its costs, explaining that the most important of these measures is developing indicators. Environment and corporate governance.

She explained that the study recommends working on multiple fronts to accelerate the transition of developing countries from traditional economic models to circular models, to enhance their ability to confront crises and sustainable growth, and these axes include concessional financing, investments in education and training, regional integration, and developing environmental and corporate governance indicators, including: These include indicators for public sector units and local governments.

The head of the Economic Studies Department at Trends confirmed that the research study concluded that in order to develop supply chains, advanced models of production efficiency must be created, to ensure that technology can be used more effectively in supporting the growth of the circular economy, and the rate of waste generation can be reduced through adoption. On the appropriate technology for different modes of production, as well as motivating national companies to achieve technological leadership in the circular economy, and this requires raising the feasibility of new investments and innovations in recycling processes.

She indicated that the successful contribution of technology in supporting the circular economy also requires strengthening the links between sectors of the circular economy with national economies, in addition to the necessity of balanced selection of technological innovations, with a focus on technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure sustainable economic growth.
