2022 World Cup Qualifiers moved from Russia

FIFA President Gianni Infantino commented on the possibility of transferring the play-off matches for the 2022 World Cup from Russia.

BBC Sport’s Simon Stone quoted Infantino on Twitter: “We are obligated to look into this matter seriously, to analyze it. We will review it promptly.”

And the press services of the national football federations of Poland, the Czech Republic and Sweden published statements announcing the inadmissibility of qualifying matches in Russia.

The 2022 World Cup qualifier match between Russia and Poland is scheduled for March 24, and should be held in Moscow. The winner of this pair will face the winner of the match between Sweden and the Czech Republic to qualify for the World Cup. If the Russian national team bypasses Poland, then the second match should also take place in Russia.

The European Football Association will meet on February 25, at an emergency meeting of the executive committee of the organization, which will consider the issue of moving the Champions League final from St. Petersburg to another city, and the participation of Russian clubs in European competitions will also be discussed. .

It was previously reported that Poland, the Czech Republic and Sweden had refused to play the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Russia.
