Emmy Awards 2026’s biggest snubs and surprises led by Sydney Sweeney, Jeremy Allen White and The Pitt as nominations are announced ahead of television’s biggest night
Emmy Awards 2026 nominations were announced on Wednesday and some of the biggest stars in Hollywood – including Sydney Sweeney, Jeremy Allen White, and Stephen Colbert – made for some of the biggest snubs and surprises.
Sweeney may have been a main fixture for season three of controversial series Euphoria, but it was not enough to earn her a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nod.
However, the 28-year-old star’s rumored rival Zendaya earned a Best Lead actress in a Drama Series nomination.
Jeremy Allen White was also a notable snub as he earned Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series two years in a row in 2023 and 2024 for his role in The Bear.
Stephen Colbert may have been one of the biggest surprise nominees as his show The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was nominated in the Best Variety Series category.
The nod may have come as a shock to many as the late night chat show ended its run in May after CBS opted to not renew his contract in what was seen as a very controversial move.
He will be up against The Daily Show (Comedy Central), Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC), Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO), and Saturday Night Live (NBC).
The Best Reality Competition Program category is contentious as it consists of: Dancing With the Stars (ABC), RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV), Survivor (CBS), Top Chef (Bravo), and The Traitors (Peacock).
Past Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller revealed the nominations from the TV Academy’s Saban Media Center.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star and Emmy Award winner Mariska Hargitay will host television’s biggest night.
The 2026 Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and Peacock on Monday, September 14 at 8pm EST/ 5pm PST.
The Creative Arts Emmys, which is a ceremony where most of the Emmys trophies will be presented, are taking place a week earlier on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.
