NFL fans claim Olympics star Chloe Kim was behind boyfriend Myles Garrett’s blockbuster trade to the LA Rams

Myles Garrett signed with the Los Angeles Rams this week in a stunning trade that has sent shockwaves through the NFL – and fans are convinced that his Olympic-star girlfriend played a part in it.

The Cleveland Browns agreed to trade Garrett, a seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end, to the Rams in exchange for another defensive end in Jared Verse as well as a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick.

The historic trade almost certainly makes LA favorites to win the Super Bowl in the coming season, with head coach Sean McVay desperate for glory while 38-year-old quarterback Matthew Stafford, last season’s NFL MVP, is still performing at such an elite level.

The organization ignited interest in Garrett when the Browns reworked his contract in March, a move that pushed back his options bonuses which, in turn, made it easier to trade him.

Yet while several pieces had to fall into place for the move to happen, NFL fans believe Garrett’s girlfriend – two-time Olympic champion snowboarder Chloe Kim – was likely one of the driving forces behind it given she is from Long Beach, California.

‘Chloe Kim said you better move to LA, I’m not going to Cleveland,’ one user wrote on X.

‘Chloe Kim, Myles Garrett’s girlfriend had a influence in this trade,’ another posted.

A third commented: ‘Chloe Kim I can’t prove it but I know you had something to do with this’.

While a fourth put: ‘Chloe Kim working behind the scenes to bring her man to LA. I respect it.’

At his Rams unveiling on Tuesday, Garrett explained that his dad is from LA before delving into his girlfriend’s ties to the city.

‘Chloe,’ he said, ‘her being from here and us being in the same city is obviously something that I love and appreciate.’

Garrett and Kim have been dating for just over a year now after first being linked romantically in May 2025.

The NFL star recently supported his girlfriend at the Winter Olympics, making the trip to Italy from the San Francisco Bay Area to watch her miss out on a halfpipe threepeat in agonizing fashion.

Garrett arrived in LA on Tuesday night after his blockbuster trade was confirmed. He only recently returned to the United States after a vacation in Japan with Kim.

The trade sets up one of the most stacked divisions the NFL may have ever seen, with the Rams set to compete in the NFC West alongside Super Bowl champions the Seattle Seahawks and fellow title contenders the San Francisco 49ers in 2026.

They open the season against the Niners in Melbourne, Australia in September.

The Rams had already traded for Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, an elite cornerback, as well as signing Jaylen Watson on a three-year deal but now Garrett also arrives to form a defense that will send fear across the NFL. 

Garrett has recorded an astonishing 51 sacks over the last three seasons alone, the most of any player in the NFL. 

Last year, he became the first player to have 12 sacks in six straight seasons and his injury record is flawless, too; he’s missed one game hurt in the last six campaigns.
