Central African Republic adopts Bitcoin as national currency

The Central African Republic (CAR) is one of the poorest countries in the world and has made Bitcoin its official currency.

The Central African Republic authorities have said that the law on the introduction of bitcoin has been unanimously adopted by the local parliament.

According to the authorities, the decision is aimed at improving the living conditions of the citizens of the Central African Republic, but experts doubt the correctness of this decision.

The president’s office also noted that the adoption of such a law would make the Central African Republic one of the “most courageous and far-sighted countries in the world”.

News portal The Verge notes that the use of any nationwide digital currencies is not welcome by Western-controlled financial institutions due to the fact that tokens are not centralized and can pose a threat to the financial system.
