Pentagon orders self-propelled howitzers for $24 million

The Pentagon has ordered the M109-A7 155mm self-propelled howitzers and the M992-A3 transport-loading vehicle from BAE Systems Land & Armaments for a total of more than $24 million.

The number of equipment units is not indicated. The M109 howitzer was created in the 50s of the last century and was first used in the Vietnam War. Modification A7 was developed in 2012. Equipped with a digital fire control system and a semi-automatic loading system.

The upgraded self-propelled guns also received more powerful engines and an improved chassis. In addition to the United States, it is in service with the armies of 24 other countries, including China and Latvia.
