Macron: France has entered the stage of the war economy…

French President Emmanuel Macron has commissioned Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Licorne to review the weapons modernization program for the period from 2019 to 2025 against the background of the conflict in Ukraine.

“I have instructed the heads of the Ministry of the Armed Forces and the General Staff to review the law on equipping the army in the coming weeks, taking into account the current geopolitical context,” Macron said, speaking at the opening of Eurosatory 2022.

He added that France had entered a “war economy period” and so the country’s defense spending needed to be reconsidered.

According to the French president, a very intense conflict is taking place on European soil and under these conditions the military-industrial complex of the European Union must be strengthened.

Initially, it was planned to allocate 295 billion euros to finance the French arms modernization program from 2019 to 2025.

Earlier, Macron called on French industrial and arms companies to increase arms production for the French army.
