“He doesn’t seem nice, he’s not funny…”

It’s an open secret in show business: for several years now William Leymergie and Sophie Davant have been a couple. The host made rare confidences about what she thinks of her companion.

In the documentary TV: your merciless universe, broadcast on C8, Sophie Davant (60 years old) spoke candidly about her relationship which has evolved over the years with the journalist and host, William Leymergie (77 years old). From colleagues, they became lovers…

How Sophie Davant met William Leymergie?

The star presenter, who now works on Europe 1, began her career in 1986 on France 3, then she joined France 2 to become Miss Météo. From 1987, she worked with Roger Zabel in Telematin and then met the man who would become, many decades later, his future companion: William Leymergie. “Me, I see this guy coming after Roger Zabel and I say to myself: ‘Oh my! He doesn’t seem nice, he’s not funny. confided Sophie Davant in the documentary. Things were bad between them!

But, quickly, Sophie Davant’s opinion changed about her colleague: “And then, the alchemy worked. We went to have breakfasts, to eat steaks at 9 a.m. in a bistro opposite Antenne 2 and then we became very close friends. We had the same way of seeing this profession, we had the same reactions. I learned a lot alongside him. I found that he had both this fantasy, this journalistic rigor, this elegance – never rude -, and then this humor. A third degree humor… And we were the same from that point of view. Then we became very close.”

When did Sophie Davant get into a relationship with William Leymergie?

Before settling down with William Leymergie, Sophie Davant married the journalist and presenter Pierre Sled. Together, they had two children: Nicolas, 30 years old, and Valentine, 28 years old. The couple separated in 2012. She then had a brief relationship with academician Erik Orsenna. But, since 2022, Sophie Davant has been in a relationship with the former host of Telematin, who is the father of 3 children.

He saw my children born, then we saw each other a lot outside of work“, she explains, specifying that her partner who is 17 years apart from her is very modest and does not bring many people into his private sphere. They also had a hard time seeing their relationship being displayed in the press.”Then life brought us together differently (…) It is never pleasant when you have not chosen to communicate and your privacy is stolen. Of course I suffered from it. My loved ones suffered. It’s a kind of rape every time.”
