"Cyber ​​security" Calls on individuals and institutions to be vigilant against cyber attacks during Eid al-Fitr

Abu Dhabi, 9 April / WAM / The Cyber ​​Security Council called on government and private institutions and all members of society to exercise caution and caution to avoid falling victim to cyber attacks, especially in light of the increase in digital transactions during Eid Al Fitr and the holiday season.

In a statement, the Council warned of the importance of intensifying efforts and taking the necessary precautionary measures to protect individuals, institutions and their data from hackers in order to preserve the national cybersecurity system.

He pointed out the necessity of activating the cyber defense system of national agencies and institutions and confronting such potential attacks targeting individuals and institutions, stressing the necessity of strengthening cooperation between the concerned authorities to share such data proactively.

The Council explained that hackers take advantage of the holiday season, in which there is a lot of reliance on digital services, and carry out various types of cyber attacks in different ways, which may harm others and make them fall victim to such electronic hacks.

The Council identified 5 tips to avoid falling victim to cyber attacks, which would enhance the digital security of community members and institutions, protect their information from theft, and confront cyber dangers. They included the need to be careful when opening suspicious links and attachments not sent from reliable sources, in addition to updating protection programs and systems. Continuously operating and conducting periodic checks on devices… as well as using strong and complex passwords, activating the two-factor authentication feature for accounts, the importance of being precise and cautious in dealing with e-mail, and verifying the credibility of any unusual requests to avoid phishing attempts, in addition to spreading awareness and strengthening the culture of cybersecurity in the country. Individuals and organizations to reduce the risks of cyber threats.

The Council stressed the importance of being aware of cyber threats hidden in individuals’ daily interactions, which include “messages, links, websites, posts, and storage devices,” stressing the necessity of verifying the authenticity of each link and file before interacting with it to protect digital security.
