Bills ruthlessly release their kicker Michael Badgley after his mistake proved costly in Eagles loss

The Buffalo Bills have brutally released kicker Michael Badgley in the wake of his crucial miss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Bills fell to an agonizingly close 13-12 defeat to reigning Super Bowl champions on Sunday night and some fans blamed it on Badgley after his botched kick attempt.

During the fourth quarter, after the Bills scored a touchdown, Badgley went for the one-point conversion but saw his effort blocked by the onrushing Eagles defense.

Minutes later, after the Bills found the endzone once again, coach Sean McDermott instead opted to go for two points. Some saw this as a slight on Badgley’s abilities.

His miss also marked the second occasion in as many games that the kicker stepped up to the mark and failed to convert for the extra point for Buffalo.

And, with that in mind, just hours after their defeat to the Eagles, the Bills confirmed that they had cut Badgley from their practice squad.

Badgley, 30, originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts back in 2018 but was brutally waived by the team before the season had even started.

He went on to play for the likes of the Titans, Bears, Lions and Commanders before eventually returning to the Colts earlier this year.

On December 2nd, however, after a crucial miss in Week 13 against the Houston Texans, he was waived by Indianapolis.

That lead Badgley to the Bills, who were in need of a kicker following an injury to Matt Prater. His stint in Buffalo would last just 13 days, following his release on Monday.

Despite his crucial miss, the Bills remain in a solid position as they prepare to head into the playoffs.

They have already locked into a wild-card spot and have missed out on the AFC East title – but they are still playing for their playoff positioning.

As it stands, Buffalo can finish as the No. 5, No. 6 or No. 7 seed, depending on how results falls on the final week of the season.
